How to redeem a promotional code on your desktop computer - Recommended

Open iTunes.
In the Source list (on the left side of the iTunes window), click iTunes Store.
In the upper-right corner of the iTunes Store window, click the Sign In button. If you are already signed in, skip the next step.
Sign in to the iTunes Store using your iTunes account information.
In the QUICK LINKS window in the right-hand column, click Redeem.
In the resulting screen, enter the 12-digit code

How to redeem a promotional code on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Open the iTunes or App Store on your device.
Tap Music from the bottom navigation bar if you're in the iTunes Store, then scroll to the bottom of the page. If you're using the App Store, tap Featured from the bottom navigation bar and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Tap Redeem.
In the text box, enter your 12 digit promotional code
When done, tap Redeem.
If you are not already signed in, you will be prompted to do so after tapping Redeem. Once you have successfully redeemed your promotional code, your download will begin
